Cervical smear & HPV screening

Screening for cervical cancer: a few seconds of examination, a result that counts.

The cervical smear and the HPV test screen for lesions of the cervix before they become a problem. It is a short procedure, performed during the consultation, and it is today the most effective way of preventing cervical cancer.

Advice

FAQ

Is it painful?

Taking the sample lasts a few seconds and is generally felt as a brief discomfort rather than as pain.

How often should it be repeated?

The interval depends on your age, the type of test and the previous results; it is set out for you during the consultation.

Does a positive HPV test mean cancer?

No. It signals the presence of a common virus, which the body most often clears on its own. It triggers monitoring, not a diagnosis.
